I’m in the midst of a full-to-the-brim week—a big project is ramping up, I need to secure a rental car and finalize our family vacation plans, and we’re heading out of town to see our son at college (and bring home a carload of his stuff before the semester wraps up).
When life feels like it’s pulling me in three directions, I turn to a few tried-and-true tech hacks that make everything feel a little more manageable. Here are three simple ways technology helped me keep my head on straight this week:
1. Reminders & Calendar Alerts on My iPhone
You know those moments when you’re in the middle of something, and your brain starts shouting deadlines and ideas at you? Instead of trying to remember everything, I quickly add a reminder to my phone. It gets the thought out of my head and into a place I trust.
I use the Reminders app on my iPhone, and I’ve set up themed lists (like “Vacation,” “Errands,” and “Blog Ideas”) so I can drop tasks into the right bucket. I’ll add a due date and move on—knowing it’ll pop up when I need it.
For example, I knew we’d want a dinner reservation this Saturday, so I set a reminder to book it by mid-week. When a car rental promo code came through my email, I added it to my “Vacation” list so I won’t be scrambling to find it when I’m ready to book.
2. Grocery Delivery = My Weekend MVP
Every week, without fail, I use grocery delivery. It saves time, energy, and my sanity. The last thing I want to do is head to a crowded store on my precious weekend time.
In the summer, it gives me more time outside and fewer errands. In the winter, it means warm coffee at home while someone else handles the shopping. Worth every penny. You can get a free trial to Walmart Plus right here.
3. Voice-to-Text for Quick Communication
When I have messages to send for a big project but don’t have time to sit down and type, I use the voice-to-text feature on my phone. I’ll speak the message out loud while walking or doing chores, and it’s instantly turned into text—ready to send by email or message.
It’s one of those underrated tools that’s always there when I need it. Huge time-saver.
These are small shifts, but they make a big difference in a busy week. Technology doesn’t have to be complicated to be helpful—it just needs to support the life you’re living right now.
Do you use any of these tricks? I’d love to know what helps you stay on top of things when life gets hectic.
