Thanksgiving is behind us, the calendar has flipped to its final page, and suddenly it’s dark at 2:00 p.m. As the temperatures dip into the single digits, I’ve been hunkering down to sketch out plans for this blog in 2026. I started posting here in February and stayed consistent all year. This whole project grew from simply taking the next step. If I had made a big announcement—I’m starting a blog!—I probably would’ve scared myself out of it. Instead, I kept my head down, followed the next breadcrumb, and somewhere along the way I found my voice again. Once I switched it back on, the ideas haven’t stopped coming.

One thing I’m thrilled about: I’ll be contributing regularly to the Sixty and Me blog, focusing on everyday tech—one of my favorite things to write about. I hope you’ll follow me there and interact with that content, especially on Facebook where the conversation is most active.

Looking ahead, I have big plans for this space in 2026. A theme I keep seeing in Facebook groups and on Reddit is how many women our age struggle with making new friends. Because this blog is Friends Over 50, I’m diving deep into that topic next year. I have a perspective on why friendship can feel so complicated for many women — myself included  — and I finally feel ready to unpack it. I’ve outlined a full year-long series because there is that much to explore.

Another thread for 2026: the way I’ve woven ChatGPT into my everyday routine. A few months ago, I started using it to solve problems, simplify tasks, and generally uplevel everything I do. I want to show you what’s possible and share simple ways you can use it too.

And of course, I’m ending the year with my wrap-up post on War and Peace. I’ve technically “finished,” but now I’m working through the first of two long epilogues and will be fully done in the next couple of weeks. This book feels surprisingly relevant to today, and finishing it is a giant accomplishment. But I’m also looking forward to a return to some lighter reading.

What’s on your mind as we close out the year? Leave a comment—I’d love to hear how you’re navigating this season and what you want to see here in 2026.
